The face lift has transformed in recent years and no longer is characterized by a scarred hairline and tightly drawn features. Here are the new techniques that are capturing public and medical interest alike.
Liquid
Injectables and facial fillers are gaining popularity among all ages interested in cosmetic enhancement. That's because it's relatively inexpensive with little recovery time and few visible signs of alteration. It's also safer and poses fewer risks than traditional surgery. So how are these injectables changing the face lift? They can recreate many of the qualities a traditional procedure has, such as eliminating deep lines and creating a smoother, more youthful appearance. Endoscopic surgery involves making microscopic incisions in the body and then inserting a lighted camera attached to a tube inside. The camera allows the surgeon to view the inside of the body via a television screen. The result is the surgeon has greater control and visibility while minimizing incisions and disturbing sensitive tissue and muscle. The benefits of an endoscopic face lift are that scarring is nearly undetectable, recovery time is greatly reduced, and the results are natural. It is mainly used for those looking for improvement in the mid to lower face region who have not yet experienced severe signs of aging.
Thread
One of the more bizarre forms of face lift procedures to gain interest among cosmetic surgeons is threading. There are no large incisions involved as the method used is much similar to that of sewing or receiving stitches. Invisible threads are commonly used and are carefully stitched from the skin back into the hairline to help give the mid and lower face a tightened and smoothed appearance. The results are much more conservative than a traditional surgery, which is why this is only recommended for those experiencing mild signs of sagging and loose skin. The cost is low and there are few risks since no anesthesia is required. While it is often referred to as a "lunch-time" procedure due to its short duration, you may feel sore and uncomfortable for a few days following.
Ribbon Lift
Another variation of the face lift which provides similar results is the brand new ribbon left. Somewhat of an upgrade of the thread lift, the ribbon lift uses a biodegradable tube as an anchor to help pull back and tighten the skin. An incision near the ear is made and the tube is inserted and attached to the muscle, helping pull it back and keep I taut. Eventually, the tube harmlessly disintegrates into the body and the results can last for a few years. The cost is less expensive than a traditional procedure and it may have fewer risks. It is most beneficial to those seeking jaw and neck rejuvenation.
