Proper Care of Unique Jerseys
There are two types of NFL (National Football League) jerseys out there, the ones you really want, maybe with a signature and the ones you have. Now some of the ones you have are cool and wearable, but the ones you want are collector or semi collector items, high quality decent material and good stitching. When you get them you want them to last, so they become collector's items, right? So the first key is how you fold and store them.
Let's say you just got the classic NFL jersey you wanted, not the cheap NFL jersey you wear around the house, the nice one with the stitching and all. You want it to last and look good, all the time. So here are the basics of what you need to do, to keep it store bought fresh.
In order for your jersey to stay neat and fresh it is best to fold it a certain way. Be sure when you fold the jersey the first thing you do is lay it facing downward on a clean, hard surface, this will have you looking at the back of the jersey. Smoothing out all of the wrinkles will keep you from having to iron that precious jersey and possibly save it from ruin. Starting on the right hand side, take one third of the shirt and fold it towards the middle, be sure that the fold starts at the middle of the right shoulder and ends at the bottom of the shirt. You should be viewing one third of the jersey's back side. Do the exact same procedure with the left hand side of the shirt. Then you would want to fold at the bottom of the jersey up towards the top, one third of the way, then the same for the top to the bottom. After completing these steps you should have a neatly folded jersey. When storing your prized jersey, be sure to avoid folding it where the numbers or name is going to be creased. By doing this you will avoid having parts of the jersey stick to other parts and eventually ripping.
Remember that when washing your jersey, it should always be hand washed or sent to the cleaners if you want it to stay fresh and clean. Machine washing is considered damaging depending on the type of wash machine you have currently in your home. Be sure to read the label of all prized clothing articles before washing them in your wash machine with your every day wash load. Once your new NFL original jersey is neatly folded and clean, put it in a nice spot in the top of your closet or somewhere that the average family pet or children cannot get their hands on. The old jerseys lying around your home can be used while doing chores or running errands. Even though it is ready to be worn and the anticipation will grow, try to save the special one for the big game!
