Belong to an Internet Forum? Why Not Create a Unique Avatar!
For those people that belong to a website that utilizes online avatars, they are fully aware of how important they are. They can mean the difference in having a good for a bad profile. When it comes time to choose one a lot depends on the kind of website you are on.
For instance, a sports related website will be dominated by sports themed ones. Go onto any NFL fan forum and you will no doubtable see avatars of players on that team. You may even see a couple that are rivals on the team since sports fans like to talk smack to one another.
A dating website will be completely different. You won't see any (ok maybe you will but it's unlikely) athlete avatars there. Dating websites are more then likely to have a picture of the member. Some will probably try to be funny while others may be more serious. There are also programs available that will alter your picture to make it look like a yearbook photograph for instance.
Then you have your hobby boards. The possibilities are endless here. Any hobby you can think of there is no doubt an online message board about it. On them you will most likely find avatars that are in some way related to the topic of the board.
Online avatars play a critical role in people's online experience. They are there to enhance the profile of the user. The user can pick and choose endless possibilities and usually has one that is related to the overall topic of the website in question.
