See Tom Brady in Action with NFL Sunday Ticket
The history of the NFL is marked by legendary quarterbacks. Johnny Unitas and Joe Namath were the first superstars in the league. Legends like Joe Montana, John Elway, Dan Marino, and Steve Young had a whole generation of young QBs outside throwing footballs through tire swings. To be considered among these greats, you must have incredible stats and incredible success. There is no quarterback today that better meets these requirements than Tom Brady of the New England Patriots.
Drafted in 2000 with the 199th pick out of Michigan, Brady entered the league as a relatively unknown player. His rookie season was marked by frustration and almost zero playing time. In his rookie campaign, Brady completed one of three passes.
The following season, he took over the starting position from an injured Drew Bledsoe and immediately took charge of the New England offense. Winning 11 of the 14 games he started, Brady led the Patriots to the playoffs and earned himself a Pro-Bowl selection. After a tough road through the playoffs, the Patriots made it to the Super Bowl, where they defeated the defending champions St. Louis Rams. Brady won Super Bowl MVP honors and became an instant superstar.
Following a disappointing and injury-plagued 2002 campaign, Brady led the Patriots back into contention in 2003. Ending the season with 12 straight victories, the Patriots earned the AFC title and cruised into the playoffs. After several close games, Brady and the Patriots made it the Super Bowl again. They defeated the Carolina Panthers and Brady won his second Super Bowl MVP trophy.
The Patriots started off 2004 with six straight wins, giving them the record for consecutive wins dating back to the previous season. They ended the season 14-2, winning another AFC title and giving Brady his second Pro Bowl appearance. In Super Bowl XXXIX, they defeated the Philadelphia Eagles to win their third title in four years.
In 2007, Brady posted one the greatest seasons for a quarterback in league history. He led the Patriots to a 16 and 0 regular season record while outscoring opponents by a 2-1 margin. He finished the season with 4,806 yards (3rd all time) and a record 50 touchdown passes, one of the most revered marks in all of sports. He was named the NFL MVP and Offensive Player of the Year. The Patriots cruised through two more playoff victories before being upset by the New York Giants in Super Bowl.
Brady missed all of the 2008 season with a knee injury, but returned in 2009 to lead the Patriots to the playoffs once again. Although they lost in the first round, the season was still considered a success for Brady, who won Comeback Player of the Year as well as another Pro Bowl.
To have your name mentioned among the all-time great quarterbacks, one must not only set records, but win championships. With three Super Bowl titles and numerous individual passing records, Tom Brady can safely be put in the company of Joe Montana and John Elway. In 2010, he looks to extend his stellar career by taking the reins of a newly revamped New England offense. With NFL Sunday Ticket from satellite television, you can catch all of Brady's games in the upcoming season. NFL Sunday Ticket allows you to watch every NFL game every week, regardless of the teams, times, or location. Brady is sure to add another chapter to his legacy in 2010, don't miss a second of it because you don't have the right programming.
