NFL- Patriots knocked out of the playoffs by the Ravens
The Patriots blew off their last playoff chance on Sunday when they lost to the Baltimore Revans 33-14 in a wild card game for the AFC conference. Although the Patriots began the year as the favorite team to reach the finals, just as last year, but unfortunately, even though they still had Tom Brady as the starting quarterback, they just weren’t the solid team they were last year. Belichick set his hopes on this final wildcard game and saved his best men for the effort, but that wasn’t enough. Belichick’s hopes started to evaporate shortly after the game started. The Ravens managed to complete two touchdowns in less than five minutes. New England was looking bad on their home turf and the crowd did not appreciate their lack of competence. After the second touchdown, the crowd began to boo Tom Brady and his team. Afterwards, even Brady agreed that he and the team were playing so badly that he would even have booed himself. Brady threw for 154 yards, with two touchdown passes, three interceptions and one fumble for New England’s first loss at home since Dec. 31, 1978. The AFC East champions, who won Super Bowl titles after the 2001, 2003 and 2004 seasons, went 8-0 at Gillette Stadium during the regular season. No one figured they would lose at home, but they did. Even Belichick figured they deserved the loss. “Give them credit,” Patriots coach Bill Belichick said in his post-game news conference. “The better team won. They dominated the game and deserve to move on.” Ravens starting quarterback Ray Rice and his team took the lead right off the start taking advantage of the Patriots’ weaknesses. The Ravens are not even the shadow of the team that won three championships in a row from 2002 until 2005. In fact, they barely qualified for the wild card game with their regular season record of 10-7. Rice had his game planned out in advance. "One thing we said as an offense is we want to start games fast," Rice said. "I wanted to be the guy today to start fast, whether it was a 5-yard run or an 83-yard run. I wanted to be the guy to say this will be a fast-tempo game. We want the other team to play catch-up to us." Ravens advantage for their constancy. They were constantly on the attack preventing the Patriots from regrouping. They took control of the game and the clock and just keep on attacking, making plays and scoring touchdowns. Their next opponent will be the Indianapolis Colts, who have been one of the best teams during the regular season and have a great possibility of reaching the Super Bowl. They will face the Colts for a spot in the American Football Conference championship game. The New York Jets, who defeated the Cincinnati Bengals 24-14 yesterday, will visit the San Diego Chargers in the other AFC second-round playoff matchup.

NFL Americas Game: Denver Broncos DVD $24.99 The Denver Broncos have one of the greatest winning traditions of any NFL team in the years since the 1970 AFL-NFL merger. But although the Broncos had made it to the Super Bowl four times (XII, XXI, XXII, and XXIV), they had come up short each time. That all changed in the late '90s. In 1997, entering his 15th NFL season, Denver quarterback John Elway had one thing missing from his resume: a Super Bowl ring. This year, Elway had all the help he needed-head coach Mike Shanahan, one of the most innovative minds in football; Terrell Davis, the AFC's leading rusher; and a defense studded with stars like Steve Atwater, Shannon Sharpe, and Neil Smith. Denver finished the regular season at 12-4 and entered the playoffs as a wild card. Three playoff victories later, the Broncos had reached Super Bowl XXXII. There, against the defending champion Green Bay Packers, Elway captured that elusive championship. With just three games left in the 1998 season, the 13-0 Denver Broncos looked like they might join the 1972 Miami Dolphins as the only undefeated teams in NFL history. At the age of 38, quarterback John Elway was still playing like he was in his prime, and Terrell Davis was on his way to breaking the 2,000-rushing -yards barrier (the 4th in NFL history). The '98 Broncos didn't break the '72 Dolphins' monopoly on perfect NFL seasons-they were upset by the New York Giants in Week 15-but they did repeat as Super Bowl Champions. Elway threw for 336 yards and won MVP honors in his final game, as Denver defeated the Atlanta Falcons in Super Bowl XXXIII. America's Game: The Denver Broncos features exclusive interviews with Elway, Shanahan, Smith and Howard Griffith (1997) and with Davis, Sharpe and Mark Schlereth (1998). Join NFL Films as they tell the stories of the '97 and '98 Broncos, who won back-to-back Super Bowls and sent their Hall-of-Fame quarterback out in style. |

NFL Playoff Game, 1932 $92.4 High Quality Content by WIKIPEDIA articles The 1932 NFL Playoff Game was the first ever playoff game held by the National Football League (NFL), the major professional American football sports league in the United States. Due to extremely cold weather, the game was played indoors on December 18, 1932 at Chicago Stadium in Chicago. The final score was Chicago Bears 9, Portsmouth Spartans 0. The game paved the way for a new era of professional American football. After following the rules of college football for its first 13 years of existence, the NFL began to develop its own rules. The popularity of the game also led the league to start holding annual playoff games. Thus, the 1932 NFL Playoff Game is sometimes unofficially called the 1932 NFL Championship Game. Furthermore, the game is regarded as the first ever major indoor football game. Author: Surhone, Lambert M./ Tennoe, Mariam T./ Henssonow, Susan F.
