Detroit Lions Are the Biggest Losers in the Entire NFL History
The Detroit Lions can be called the biggest loser of the season. And with a current record of 0 wins and 12 losses, they are indeed the worst team the NFL has seen in its entire history. The Lions are now tagged with the title of the most losing team of the NFL and they blew every chance they were given for the win. This is probably the worst year for the Lions although they haven't been showing stellar performance in the last few decades.
The performance that the Lions are showing makes their fans really frustrated and disappointed. Even if they have the most loyal fans, the question remains on how these people put up with the poor performance their team has been giving them year after year. Eventually, the kind of loyalty their fans are giving them will wane with how they lose one game after the another.
But there is another reason why Detroit is losing interest in the Lions and it is not because of the losing status of the team. It is also because of the depression that the economy is experiencing. In fact, a lot of people relate the losing status of the team to the history of Detroit and its failing auto industry. And as coincidence has it, the team is owned by the Ford family. The same family who ran their business, the Ford Motor Company, aground.
The people of Detroit have gotten tired of how the team is performing and don't really care as much as before. The few remaining fans of the Detroit Lions are forsaking the games because of the NFL policy of no broadcast if the games aren't sold out. With the economy down, these fans have no money to waste on overpaid team owners and multi-millionaire players who doesn't even perform at their best.
With the next draft, the NFL will have to do something and start talking tough to players. They will also have to resort to paying lower salaries to the drafted players. Fans don't have enough money to pay approximately $100 for a game that isn't even able to get them off their seats. Lucky for the Ford family since they get a free stadium, financed by the people of Michigan, yet they make so much money in NFL TV plus licensing rights. No wonder winning isn't on top of their list.
You might ask, what's in store for the Lions? The answer is as simple as nothing. If this team does not get their act together, their losing streak can last forever. Unless someone gets some sense into their management as well as their players, they have a really slim chance at improving. But it is never too late to do so, for the sake of glory and for the sake of their fans, the Detroit Lions should do something about how they are playing their games. A win is not so far away if the team and its management work together to grab the opportunity to win.
